Best Travel Accessories for Students

Over the past 30 years, I have traveled to 49 countries, spanning 6 continents. In addition, I have taken my students around the world to over 17 countries. Let me save you the headache and guessing game of knowing what to pack! SHARE THIS PACKING LIST WITH YOUR STUDENTS and this list will help your STUDENTS pack things they may not have thought of (especially for first-time-student-travelers). It is a great list for “student travel” MUST HAVE ESSENTIALS and FUN GIFT ideas to have your travelers share with family as a “Christmas Wish List” or for Birthday presents. The list below, includes items I personally use every time I travel abroad and also recommend to my own student travelers. These are all items that have proven their value and are worth purchasing any time you travel abroad..

Portable Battery Charger

When you are out exploring during the day, you will be using your phone non-stop to capture the amazing moments from your trip. Save yourself the heartache of having a dead battery by purchasing this portable wireless battery charger: This charger is Qi-certified to provide up to 10W of wireless charging power to phones, earbuds, or other devices on the go. High-Speed USB Charging: Connect to either the USB-C or USB-A port to give your phone or tablet a powerful charge up to 18W.

Passport and Money Protector

I highly recommend that every traveler wears an anti-theft wallet. This is a great way to store your passport and other valuables. It also has RFID technology, which will protect your credit cards’ information from being scanned and stolen.

LifeStraw Filtration Water Bottle

It is so important to stay hydrated when you travel. It helps with jetlag and overall health. When I travel, I don’t like to take any risks with the water I drink. In addition, most countries around the world don’t have easy access to public drinking fountains, so you have to have your own water. The LifeStraw water bottle has a built in filter, so no matter where you have to fill up your water bottle, you can feel confident your drinking water is safe.

3-in-1 European Adapters

When you travel outside of the United States, other countries use completely different outlets. To accommodate these changes, it is essential you buy the correct adaptor before you travel. This 3-in-1 European adapter is perfect for all your charging needs. No matter what country you travel to in Europe, you will be all set with this 3-in-1 adapter.

Anti-Pressure Earplugs

Ear Planes are something I never travel without. These little miracle workers will equalize the cabin pressure during take-off and landing. If you deal with ear issues on a plane, these are a lifesaver!

Dual Voltage Travel Hair Dryer

Similar to the curling/flat iron mentioned earlier, this little travel-sized blow dryer is dual voltage as well. It is so compact, and it comes with a European plug adapter.

First Aid Kit

80-piece Johnson & Johnson Travel Ready First Aid Kit for on-the-go first aid wound care while you travel.

TSA Approved Carry-On (21 x 8.5 x 15)

Nobody wants to lug a huge suitcase around when you travel, lose your bag, or miss a connecting flight; therefore, I HIGHLY encourage my travelers to ONLY use a 21 x 8.5 x 15 (with wheels) carry-on bag. This carry-on also comes with TSA approved locks for security.

Cross-Body Anti-Theft Purse

This is a great travel cross-body bag that gives you that added dose of peace-of-mind. This bag has Anti-Theft features like hidden slash resistant stainless steel mesh body panels, locking zippers, adjustable stainless steel cable strap that can be attached to a stationary object to prevent a grab-n-go. It is the perfect bag for keeping your belongings safe.

Apple Tag Tracking Device

For students, an Apple tag is a great option to have as an added measure of safety for their passport/money protector or luggage. For parents traveling with their student, this is a great way to track your kids and keep them safe from getting lost.

Shampoo and Conditioner

To avoid dealing with the 3oz TSA requirements and running out of shampoo and conditioner during the trip, try using these convenient shampoo and conditioner bars instead. The shampoo and conditioner has great lather and they are convenient store in their metal tins.

Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes

When I travel, I like to simplify things when going through TSA Security by not bringing any liquids. These cleansing towelettes are the perfect solution. Not only do I NOT have to take any liquids out when I go through security, but they continue to take up less space in my bag each day I travel.

TSA Approved Travel Clear Travel Bag

Make going through security as easy as possible by having all of your liquids in this clear pouch. This is the perfect TSA approved clear bag to carry all of your liquid-based bathroom products.

Laundry Soap Sheets

These incredible and portable Laundry soap sheets are perfect for long trips and doing laundry on the go. They are small and compact which makes it the perfect size to easily stow away in your luggage without taking up any space. There are 50-sheets, which is more than enough for a 1-3 week trip abroad with your students.

The Perfect Traveler’s Backpack

This is the PERFECT backpack for someone who values packing light yet doesn’t want to forgo packing all of the necessities. I personally traveled for two weeks to France, Portugal, and Switzerland only carrying this backpack; it worked great! This is the perfect bag for anyone who wants to ditch the suitcase and use a backpack instead. *Added Bonus: This backpack fits perfectly under the seat in front of you, so you won’t be charged a carry-on fee if you fly budget airlines.

Charging Cords and Technology Case

One of the essential things for a successful trip is being organized. Skip the headache of dealing with your charging cords and plugins by having them nicely organized in this travel case.

DJI Osmo Steady Cam

This is a PERFECT gift for anyone who wants to capture their memories on video or photos for a professional look. The DJI Osmo is a steady cam that seamlessly steadies the camera, tracks the moving objects, and captures all footage with professional grade results.

Non-Drowsy Dramamine

If you are at all prone to motion sickness, but don’t want to take dramamine because it may make you drowsy, then this NON-DROWSY natural ginger dramamine will be your best friend!

Dual Voltage 2-in-1 Curling and Flat Iron

Any time I travel, I try to streamline what I bring while still feeling good about myself. This curling and flat iron combo are AMAZING! Many parts of the world use a different electric voltage than we do. The US uses 110v, but Europe and other countries use 220v. The best part about this curling/flat iron is that it is already set up to be dual voltage, so you do not have to bring a big clunky voltage converter with you when you travel.

Travel Journal

This Travel Journal will help you record and save your cherished memories from your adventures around the world.

Airfly Bluetooth Connector

I don’t know about you, but I HATE having to use the headphones that the airlines provide on long overseas flights. I would much rather use my own headphones, but I never had a way to connect them to the audio on the airplane until now! This small and compact bluetooth transmitter is a great way to sync your own headphones with the airline’s audio/video.

Another great bonus, the Airfly will also allow you to use your own headphones while you are going on a guided tour with your local historical guides, and you won’t have to use the headphones that usually accompany the little radio your local guide gives you in order to hear what they are saying during the tour.
